Vacationing in Egypt

Posted by admin on Jul-29-2010

Traveling is as exciting as it is complex. It is a well known fact that before heading out time must be spent on researching the details about the location. Here is a little insight into spending your Egypt holiday.

Time of the year must be considered before booking any trip to Egypt. Any vacation to Egypt can be extremely pleasant in the winter as the weather stays warm through out this time of the year. If visiting during the summer beware of the heat waves that are almost a daily occurrence. As extreme as the heat can be, the cold can get just as bad, nights in the dessert can be chilly to say the least. With this in mind, pack your clothing accordingly. Also when packing, remember you will be in a different part of the world and will experience a different, perhaps more conservative culture; be sure to keep this in mind throughout your trip.

Once the time of the year is decided plan out the must sees for your group. Yes, Egypt and the pyramids go together and are a must but there are also activities and other beautiful sites. When in Cairo try taking a train to Alexandria as the city has so much history and culture to explore. Consider taking a cruise on the Nile and maybe going camel back riding, yes, if you look you can find camels for rent. Surely before the trip is over cover sites like the Luxor Temple, Abu Simbel and the Nubian Museum of Aswan. Many of these places are a short drive or train ride away and others may take a up some of your time. Plan your itinerary accordingly.

Egypt, like many other countries, has its big cities and its small towns and the prices will range depending on how much tourist appeal the place has. Carry local currency because once locals and swindlers see foreign money, well, the price always seems to go up. Don’t forget to check out the conversion rates before traveling and stock up on Egyptian Pounds upon arrival. Lastly, no matter what time of the year you are there, pack sunscreen and carry water bottles when going out to places like the pyramids or on tours. Water is not always readily available and the Egyptian sun can leave you with a painful burn. These are just some of the basics you’ll need to know when traveling to Egypt.
